Fundraising makes an important contribution to the
overall
school experience and can help enrich learning
opportunities for
students. Fundraising with
healthy food and beverage items
provides another opportunity
to support nutrition messages taught
in the classroom, home and
broader community. Many of our
schools have demonstrated they
can raise money
and promote
healthy options at the same time.
Fundraising Quick Facts:
- Minimum food cannot be used for
fundraising at any time.
- Food cannot be used as prizes for games contests in class, at carnivals,
fall fairs or spring flings.
- Bake sales can be held as long as the food meets the Maximum or Moderate
nutrient criteria - 70% of the choices have to be Maximum, 30% can be Moderate
